Dan Xia
Co-founder and Board President
Dan Xia is a current medical student at the University of Rochester with a longstanding commitment to global health and community-centered care. An avid traveler who has visited 150 countries and volunteered in over 20, Dan is passionate about expanding access to healthcare across diverse communities. He has worked in Kenya since 2020 as the International Director for the Sagrema Foundation and founded the Wakinga Community Health Centre in 2022. Since opening, the clinic has provided affordable medical care to thousands of patients. Dan has also helped drive additional community development efforts, including clean water initiatives and local health outreach programs.
Outside of medicine, Dan enjoys learning languages, martial arts tricking, cooking, paleontology, and playing various instruments.

Emilia Janiczek
Co-founder and Director
Emilia Janiczek is a medical student at the University of Rochester. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh.
Before medical school, Emilia worked as a clinical research coordinator in San Francisco, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and industry partners on national clinical trials. She also served as an assistant coach for a high school cross country and track team where she enjoyed mentoring young athletes.
Emilia met co-founder Dan in medical school while working together as leaders of an asylum clinic. What excites her about global health is the ability to build structures that make healthcare sustainable and accessible.
Outside of medicine, Emilia balances her time studying with her passions for running, cooking, and photography.

Jake Vollkommer
Co-founder and Director
Jake Vollkommer is the co-founder and CTO of Vallor, an AI startup in the procurement space. While his background lies in artificial intelligence and software development rather than medicine, Jake brings critical operational and fundraising expertise to help formalize and scale the organization’s impact with a strong foundation for long-term community health initiatives.
Jake’s connection to global health stems from a transformative period traveling to over 30 countries across five continents, including four years living abroad in Australia. He met co-founder Dan Xia during Semester at Sea in 2018, and their shared travels through diverse communities sparked Jake’s deep appreciation for cross-cultural connection and the universal importance of healthcare access.
Outside of his work with Vallor and Seeds of Ngima, Jake remains passionate about exploring the world and learning from the people and cultures he encounters.
